The Lyra Ferby Graphite Pencil is designed for small hands and intended to help young children write and draw in the correct way. With a triangular shape, the pencil encourages the correct finger position for optimal accuracy and control that facilitates effortless neat, legible writing for life. Each of the 36 pencils uses soft B graphite for general use.
Body
The body of this pencil is designed to help children ages 3+ learn how to hold and control and pencil correctly for improved writing. It has been designed by experts specifically for children, and is suitable for both left and right hand use.
At 12cm, the pencil is considered to be half-length, and is lightweight despite a chunky 10mm diameter for easy manoeuvring by children. The barrel of the pencil is also triangular shaped with three different grip points to help children correctly place their fingers. This results in optimal fine motor control so children feel comfortable and confident whilst learning to write, and can do so effortlessly for hours on end.
After learning to write with this pencil, children will be able to hold and control pencils of all shapes and sizes in the same way, allowing them to quickly develop their skills and produce impressively neat text for life.
B Graphite
The Lyra Ferby Graphite Pencil uses an ultra-thick 6.5mm B graphite lead, which is suitable for general classroom use, although slightly softer than standard HB. This is due to a higher graphite content, which results in bolder, darker lines and a greater suitability to sketching, smudging and shading that children will love. With such versatility, children can practise different activities with just one pencil, allowing them to benefit from the lightweight triangular jumbo barrel at all times.
The ultra break-resistant 6.5mm graphite means the pencil will produce thick, bold lines for easy reading, and is harder to break than thinner alternatives. As a result, these pencils will last much longer in environments with children, who can be often rough with pencils by dropping them or applying high pressure. Should they become blunt, the pencils are also easy to sharpen for an accurate point every time thanks to the soft B grade graphite. .
