This 2-in-1 tray/shelf storage cupboard is an essential for keeping teaching resources private, safe and protected in any classroom. Use the convenient combination of storage solutions so your lesson plans, worksheets, stationery, books and equipment are kept organised and in one place.
Design
This storage cupboard has been manufactured to a height best suited to secondary school children and teachers, with handles placed high out of the reach of younger children. The internal design consists of 4 shelf tiers on one side, including 1 fixed shelf and 2 adjustable shelves to help accommodate larger items. These can be used to store books and general learning resources that have no other place in the classroom. On the other side is a single tray column which can hold upto 17 shallow Gratnells trays for the storage of paper, exercise books, stationery and other small and easy to lose items. The trays can be assigned based on theme, subject or pupil for easy navigation.
The lockable doors incorporated into the design make it possible to store books, files and other resources in a way that is accessible only to those with a key, keeping the contents protected from unauthorised use. Unsafe substances and specialist equipment such as those used in science labs can be kept safe for greater peace of mind, as well as answer sheets or stationery that is at risk of being used without permission. The doors also hide the contents to limit distractions, and provide a protective barrier against spillages in art and science classrooms.
The cupboard itself is static for permanent status and safe usage in any environment. It also limits storage to one tall structure to save space compared to other storage solutions.
Construction
The unit is constructed using 18mm thick melamine faced chipboard (MFC), a common material in classrooms due to its strength and durability under frequent handling. This is supplemented with a protective laminated finish and 2mm thick ABS edging tape to create a smooth edge and prevent chipping. The supplied Gratnells trays are made from super-strong polypropylene to ensure a lifetime of use for an affordable price.
