Design
Each chair has a 430mm seat height, making them ideal for children aged 11-14. For optimal comfort, posture and support when working however, it is important to select tables that suit this height; in this case, tables with a height of 710mm. In doing so, not only will children avoid pain and poor posture, but your classroom furniture will also comply with BS EN 1729:2016.
NP chairs are a particularly comfortable option for long periods of sitting due to the well-defined lumbar support back. This design encourages children to sit with a healthy posture by closing the gap between the spine and seat, preventing back problems in both the present and future. As a traditional general-purpose chair, they are suitable for all types of classroom and will fit in well with existing furniture. NP chairs are lightweight and easy to stack to a limit of 8 chairs high.
This chair incorporates a satisfyingly soft seat pad into the design for further comfort. If your classroom hosts lessons where children use the same seat for hours, this pad is an essential extra to make sure every pupil is comfortable enough to focus and enjoy learning. Soft seating will prove homely and inviting for children who find polypropylene corporate and uncomfortable, and may be particularly useful for children with sensory issues who would cope much better with cushioning.
There are several fabric, shell and frame colours available to choose the look that best suits your space, matches your school colours, or creates a colour code for each table.
Construction
Each NP chair is constructed from polypropylene - an easy-cleaning, hard-wearing material that can withstand frequent use and heavy weight. These benefits are unmatched by other materials, and have led to polypropylene becoming the most common material for classroom chairs – there’s no need to break the bank on pricey alternatives offering the same quality!
The seat pad is permanently and strongly attached to the chair, and will remain in place with no assembly required. It has been strategically placed at the heaviest contact point where it is most needed, and has been constructed from tight-woven and durable Camira fabric to prevent tearing or loss of cushioning that comes with frequent use. This material is the same found on office chairs – indicative of its quality – and is constructed from 100% recycled, flame retardant polyester with stretch and non-piling properties for a long life. Although the lifespan of the overall chair differs, the seat pad boasts a 10 year guarantee on its own.
The anti-tilt leg style has been chosen to reduce the risk of accidents and prevent purposeful rocking that also puts children at risk and causes distraction. The frame attaches only to the underside of the shell and not the back, leaving enough 'give' for the shell to recline with the user, whilst the rest of the chair stays put. This is safer and more comfortable as it promotes muscle movement and blood flow to prevent fatigue. The frame is constructed from metal for a longer lasting base that will support heavy weight without breaking – so long lasting in fact, that each NP chair comes with a 5 year guarantee for peace of mind!
