With twice the storage space of a regular bookshelf, this double-sided unit is perfect for those with lots of resources, but not enough money or space for multiple bookshelves. With sloping shelves to showcase attractive and intriguing book covers, you can hand select the perfect publications that will encourage your pupils to read.
Design
This double-sided unit includes 4 shelf compartments, with 1 regular shelf and 1 sloping shelf each side. Sloping shelves are great in libraries and classrooms for showcasing new or popular publications, or highlighting selected ones that you wish to be given greater emphasis. By displaying the front cover rather than the spine, it is easier to draw children’s attention and encourage them to pick up a book of their own accord, helping them develop an interest in reading. In terms of practicality, the sloped design helps keeps books upright whilst optimising visibility at all angles. Large publications can also be stored comfortably on the sloping shelves due to the absence of a top panel, which not only makes the unit versatile to your storage needs, but reduces cost in comparison to alternatives.
Due to the unit’s height, each shelf is within comfortable reach for primary school aged children, empowering them with the responsibility of selecting a book and putting it back their own when they are done. Although the sloping shelf is suitable only for reading materials, the bottom shelves make it possible to store not only books, but games, boxes, stationery or other resources that need to be accessed by children, making this unit an adaptable one for ever-changing storage needs. This shelf also provides generous space for larger items, although it is non-adjustable.
Thanks to the two-sided design, storage is doubled without having to purchase multiple expensive, space-consuming units, making it perfect for larger classes or schools on a tight budget. Spreading the shelves across two sides also keeps the unit short for children to access, and allows multiple children to find or replace items at the same time to speed things up in a classroom. The unit is mobile with castors to easily store out of the way when not in use. Mobility is especially essential for a double-sided unit that will be stored against a wall in small spaces.

Unlike other sloping shelves, heavy books can be safely stored in this unit as a result of the 18mm thick melamine faced chipboard (MFC) shelves. MFC is a common material in classrooms due to its strength and durability under frequent handling, and allows us to proudly offer a 25 year guarantee, so your school can use its tight budget wisely. The MFC used in this product is FSC certified.
