It is available in Beech or Grey with matching edges.The Process1. First choose your base unit (A B or C). All base units feature cubbyholes with trays differing only in the number of columns.2. Next choose a top style to stack onto the chosen base. You can select from open shelves a cupboard unit or empty cubbyholes.3. Then for each of these units select a carcass/edge colour that suits your classroom and tastes. Carcass and edge colours will match.4. Finally select your tray colour from the options provided. Trays come with the base units only.Why Metroplan This range is unique in that all the units are slimline for use in smaller spaces – 350mm deep compared to the standard 490mm – with base units featuring cubby trays specially designed by Gratnells to fit the smaller cubbyholes. Although the trays are smaller in width and length they are identical in height to deep Gratnells trays in order to accommodate larger items such as science apparatus arts & crafts equipment and other practical resources. Cubbyholes also allow trays to be easily removed and will safely hold these heavier items compared to standard tray units with runners. Not only do these slimmer designs optimise space but they appear far more modern and aesthetically pleasing than bulky alternatives.By opting for a build-your-own piece you are completely customising your furniture to your needs whilst keeping your options open if those needs change in the future. Including these shelves there are three different top styles available for Base C but the units can be used on their own too in the case of smaller classes. Base and top units should be securely joined together using the screw fixings provided with safety and stability further ensured with the static base.ConstructionThis unit is constructed using 18mm thick melamine faced chipboard (MFC); a classroom favourite that assures high-level strength and durability with frequent heavy use. To complement this is the use of 2mm ABS edges; smooth to the touch and as attractive as they are protective to both the user and the unit itself.
