Based around a laminated flow chart the class rock pack takes students through the principle tests for identifying rocks including: separating rocks and soils on the basis of grain size textures structures colour mouldability calcite and silicon content. 5 samples of each rock (or minimum of 200 grams of rock fragments) are supplied in sturdy plastic tubs contained in a cardboard box with full teachers notes. Rocks included in the pack: shelley limestone sandstone slate granite porphyry basalt granite oolitic limestone gabbro marble.1 tub of clay soil and 1 tub of sandy soil.
